Privacy Policy

What we collect, what we don't, and how we handle it. Short version: almost nothing.

What we collect

ProbateByState collects the minimum information needed to operate the site and understand its usage. Specifically:

  • Anonymized analytics via Google Analytics — page views, time on page, approximate geographic region (country, state), device type, referring site, and similar aggregate data. We do not link this to personal identity.
  • Server logs routinely recorded by our hosting infrastructure (CloudFront and S3), including IP addresses and user agents, retained briefly for security and operational purposes.
  • Nothing from you directly. This site has no contact forms, no newsletter signup, no account creation, no cookies that identify you personally. The nature of a reference calculator site speaks for itself — we collect nothing beyond anonymized analytics.

Advertising

ProbateByState displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can review and adjust Google's ad personalization settings at adssettings.google.com.

The presence of an ad does not constitute endorsement. We do not select advertisers and do not receive information about which specific ads you interact with.

Your rights

Because we collect no personally identifiable information directly, there is no account to delete or data to export. If you want to block Google Analytics entirely, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Residents of California (CCPA), the EU (GDPR), and other privacy-law jurisdictions have specific rights under those laws. Because we do not maintain user accounts or personally identifiable records, most of these rights are satisfied by default.

Content corrections

If you find a factual error on the site — a statute citation that's outdated, a fee figure that's wrong, a link that's broken — we want to know. While we don't publish a contact email (to avoid spam), you can submit corrections via the social accounts or directory listings where the site is registered, or simply wait for our quarterly review cycle.

Legal disclaimer

Probate law is state-specific and subject to change. Consult a probate attorney licensed in your state before making legal or financial decisions based on anything you read here.

We make reasonable efforts to keep the information current and accurate, but we provide no warranty that the content is error-free or suited to any particular purpose. Use of the site is at your own risk.

Changes to this policy

If our privacy practices change materially, this page will be updated with a new "last reviewed" date. Continuing to use the site after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
